Workshops with the International English School (IES) Sundbyberg

Classes of Year 8
September 2024

In September, we partnered with the International English School (IES) Sundbyberg to guide Year 8 students through art workshops at Marabouparken. These tailored workshops were designed to help students connect more deeply with the art and history of Sundbyberg, exploring the park’s significance to the city while enjoying a fun, creative, and inspiring experience. The workshops were held for five Year 8 classes and unfolded in three engaging phases.

Phase 1
With our Marabouparken Guide Map in hand, students set out to explore the park’s sculptures, navigating through shifting weather. For many, it was their first time visiting the park, and after learning a bit about its history, their curiosity about the sculptures became clear. Using the guide map, they asked questions, shared observations, and gradually built a sense of connection to the art around them.

Phase 2
Inspired by the sculptures they explored using the map, the students got to work creating their own artworks. Some worked on their own, while others teamed up, using a variety of art materials to bring their ideas to life. Their creativity brought new perspectives to the park, transforming the sculptures and spaces into something uniquely their own through their artworks.

Phase 3
In the final phase, students presented their creations and shared their thoughts on the process. Hearing them talk about their inspirations and approaches showed how they connected with the park and its sculptures in a personal way. It was a chance for them to share their perspectives and become more connected to the space and the artworks, making them their own through their unique interpretations.

Thank you to all the students, teachers, and staff who made this workshop series unforgettable. We are excited to continue bringing art closer to communities across Sweden—stay connected for more upcoming projects and experiences!
